I absolutely love eating, who doesn't? I would consider myself a very adventurous eater. I think almost half of my trips to a new city is finding the best food places and trying out the typical dishes there. I have tried all sorts of food from traveling from bratwurst to pig's tongue to paella to rabbit.
Something I have come to love about Spanish culture is the value they put on meals. Siesta, for example, is about a 2 hour lunch break. That is how important familial meals--eating together truly is a social activity. You all are placed in the same room and are forced to have conversation and perhaps that is why many first dates take place in a restaurant. I do feel there is a larger emphasis on family and friend meals than in the United States. The meals are longer here, and it happens a lot more often. We don't need a birthday or an event to bring us together. We come together because we want to spend time together. I love that there is such an importance to eating together because it means they put high value on family and friends. I have had my fair share of meals, and so I'm here to share some pictures! Enjoy!
