After my first day of work, I decided to stay in the school town to explore. I first went to the photo shop to take pictures for the residency card I need to apply for. I then asked the gentleman what were pretty sites to see around the area and he suggested "Parque de Monte Da Guia." "Como voy?" "Vale, Izquierda, sube, sube, sube, izquierda, sube, sube, sube." I had nothing else to do so why not trek all the way up there. I climbed and found myself to the most beautiful park I have ever seen overlooking the whole city. It wasn't just Vigo I saw but all the nearby islands as well. I saw tiny tiny people boating, others going from Vigo to Cangas, and some making their way way towards Islas Cies. It was extraordinary. Vigo is a pretty busy city center so getting away from that was nice for a change. I was surrounded by so much green, trees, and nature. It was "cojonudo" (amazing). I then came back down and went by a cafe for a "bocadillo" and glass of water to freshen up. The bar people there were so friendly and said to call them if I ever had any trouble adjusting to life in Vigo. They even gave me a "tortilla de patata" to try for free! I swear, things are going too perfectly. And not even one drop of rain yet! Either something horrible is coming, or I just need to accept all the good and thank God for all my blessings so far and for watching over me. I'm sure challenges and hardships are bound to come, but no matter what I am so grateful I get to experience the wonderful people of Galicia and see all the beauty they have to offer. Sometimes all it takes is opening your eyes.
